Ceramic
A cured film you can quote in microns.
Silicon dioxide, bonded to clear coat that is still intact. Water beads because the surface energy changed. That is not a shield against stones.
Two systems
The two-year coat is one layer after a wash, chemical decontamination, clay, and a light refining polish where the clear coat allows. We measure that cured film at about 0.8–1.6 µm. We do not call it three microns.
The five-year coat is two layers, same prep, and a witness coupon from the same batch stays with the job sheet. The cured film we stand behind is 1.8–3.2 µm. If a coupon from your batch falls outside that, we do not hand the car over as a five-year coat.
The car stays inside the first night. No wash for seven days. After that, a hand wash. A brush tunnel will put swirls through any coating of this thickness. Salt air still has to be washed off. The coating makes the chloride film release. It does not cancel the sea.
We do not coat clear coat that is peeling, cracked, or oxidized through. Locking that failure under a glossy layer is the thing this page refuses.

Heavier correction is separate. See paint. A sedan in the five-year system is two to three days in the bay.
